First off, if your having problems with the dvd or blu rays...I apologize. And I will help you. After reading this feel free to call me at 214-431-2348 Jason Myer. I am in Phoenix right now until Monday but am willing to even visit with people on Tuesday and after if needed.

A few things
There is a blu ray 1920*1080 in size
There is a standard dvd 720*480 in size.

The blu rays should play on 80-90% of players. Of the 25 blu ray weddings I have delivered in the last year. 1 person had problems playing that blu ray on their player, no one else. I did try a different brand of blu ray dvds for this project, because the verbatim blu rays were sold out. I played the blu ray on my sony blu ray player at my home and it played without any problems. I was happy with the result minus 2 things.
1. The lighting on the stage was actually too bright in 2 spots, causing an imbalance in the video. I have already told Mr. Earl that if I am filming for them in March, or for the recitals, that I will work with the lighting crew ahead of time (not just before the show) in getting this correct.
2. My second camera which is used for the cut away shots didn't do as well as I wanted. If I am filming the recital, I would either rent or buy a second high end HD camera.

On the standard dvds....it depends on the type of problems your having.
From experience (and a big part of why I'm using blu rays now) I have found the problems to be one of the following:
1. Dvd skips or freezes at certain points
If this is the case, it's a compatibility issue, and I will supply you a dvd+r. I used dvd-r initially since it is thought to have the best chance to play on the most devices. The dvd+r copies will be free and supplied to Mr. Earl on Wednesday. I understand your frustration, but understand that if I had made dvd+r copies, there would still likely be people with issues that fit 1.
(I think that if I am fortunate enough to film for Gotta Dance in the future, I will simply supply dvd+r and dvd-r versions)

2. image looks fat or stretched
This is normally because the dvd is being played on an HDTV and the screen is showing a 1920*1080 view when the video is 720*480. Some HD tvs handle this automatically. Some don't. And the tv user has to change the picture format or layout...it's called different things. It's normally a button on the remote control and quick to do. Part of the issue is we're in an inbetween time....many people still use dvds, well, I'd say most. But almost 100% of tvs sold in the last 2 years are HD. I would suggest also trying to play the dvd on a laptop without maximizing the screen.

On the blu rays....I haven't run into many issues minus a rare blu ray player that can't play the blu ray. If anyone runs into this, I am willing to burn new blu rays on a different type of blu ray and deliver them (also for free).

I can 100% say this...the blu ray demo that I played for Mr. Earl at the ballet that many people saw, it was ok. The current blu ray that people received was better than that demo without question. I think I will bring in the big tv and the same blu ray that people got a few days ago into Gotta Dance and play it.
thank you
